ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY - 6th FEBRUARY On This Day in 1685, James-The-Second-Of-England-But-Not-For-Long, who was also James VII of Scotland, became King after his brother, Charles-The-Second-Thousandth-Hooker-Probably-Did-Me-In died. King James II was deposed by his daughter, Mary, and her husband, William-Ate-Too-Many-Oranges, in what became known as the Glorious Revolution. This was the second time someone called William invaded England to claim the throne. Must be something in the name. If you know someone called William, better watch out for him. He's probably contemplating conquering your ass. Or horse. Whatever one you have.
