On This Day In History - 5th July.

5th July 1295, because my enemy's enemy is my friend, Scotland and France form the Auld Alliance.

Yep, the two countries that hated England the most back in the day, sign an official alliance openly declaring that they despise England.

The Auld Alliance was renewed by each new Scottish and French king for hundreds of years, except for the French king Louis XI.

Luckily, both Scotland and France really love England nowadays, so the treaty has lapsed.
